Working in Client Services

A short Q&A on working in Client Services from a friend in the field.

What is the main purpose of your role?

To hold the relationship with my client and lead the team, in order to deliver the best piece of work possible.

What do you do in a typical day?

Catch up with the team to go through priorities and deadlines, meet or call my client for updates/reports, email publishers or meet with them to discuss current or future plans.

What skills and/or qualifications do you need to do your job?

You need to have great passion for media, a strong character and a good amount of patience. Being a bit of a geek would also definitely help!

How did you get into digital media/marketing?

I discovered digital marketing when I was client side and like it so much that, as soon as I could, I jumped to agency side and started working in search, then broadened to biddable media and then display

What are the career prospects?

Unlimited. The industry is changing so much and so quickly, there will always be need for new talent.

What advice would you give to someone looking to follow your path?

Just follow your passion and never give up, the rest will follow.
