Welcome to our new regular feature, “Don’t you know who I am” or DYKWIA for short. Every week on DYKWIA I will ask one of our experts in the field to answer a set of questions which aim to reveal how they got to where they are and what makes them tick.
If you’re looking to get into the wonderful world of digital media then this should be your first port of call. Well maybe not first, like, third or fourth.
First up to the plate we have Matt. Matt, over to you.
Which digital discipline do you work in?
Content Marketing – Creative Content Strategy and Production.
What did you study at university (or school) that led you to digital?
Advertising Management at Northumbria University. I did an unpaid internship at Green Media who taught me about digital media and made me ready for the working world after university.
Anything you wish you’d studied that would have helped?
Not really. My A-levels (English, History and RE) meant I was used to writing lots of words, and my copywriting internship meant I was more efficient when I went back to my final year.
What do you most look forward to doing in your day?
Coming up with a creative idea which a client likes and wants to run with.
What do you not look forward to?
Not getting sign-off on certain projects, so a project you thought had great potential never sees the light of day
Name your favourite digital blog (aside from Neil’s Recruitment)?
I like The Guardian Media blog, which looks at recent digital trends.
Favourite Excel tool?
I don’t use excel apart from to produce a Gant chart, so I would say the ‘highlight tool’ to make it look nice and pretty.
What is the most satisfying part of the job?
Seeing your idea and research put into development and then made live, with plenty of social shares, traction and a positive review.
